Immediate Results from our Recent Merge with OASES

EBAYC is proud to announce our new "Boys to Men of Color" Mentorship expansion project at Manzanita Elementary School which will recruit college mentors to work with 5th grade African American and Latino male students to support their successful transition to middle school. This project is made possible through the joint efforts of Be A Mentor Inc. (BAM), and other community agencies in Oakland to support the Oakland Unified School District's (OUSD) African American Male Achievement initiative and its strategic plan in becoming a full service community school district.  We are also fortunate to be able to leverage OASES' historical success in recruiting over 300 college mentors annually to fortify our mentorship expansion.

Through this project, mentors will be matched 1:1 with a student for at least one school year. During their mentorship, mentors and students will have the opportunity to engage in relationship-building and skill-building activities, talk about relevant issues such as resisting peer pressure and anger management, develop positive study-skill habits, and participate in at least two field trips to expand their learning

For more information about this program, please contact Volunteer Manager, Geraldine Ah-sue at geraldine@ebayc.org or 510.533.1092 Ext. 13

EBAYC and OASES Join Forces!

Thank you to everyone who celebrated our successful merge between EBAYC and OASES at our recent benefit event! The joining of our two organizations will create greater possibilities to leverage partnerships and programs to benefit more youth and their families. With your help, we were able toraise approximately $75,000 to support the important youth and community programs we run. We hope to see you again in the near future. A very special thanks to all donors and our event sponsors!
